National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry
In 2006, the Institute will complete a five-year effort as a founding member of the National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry
(NCSSF). The Commission was established to improve the scientific
basis of sustainable forestry practice, management and policy by
funding targeted, user-driven research projects and accelerating the
application of the results by resource managers in the field. It
is comprised of leading scientists and forest management professionals
from government, industry, academia, and environmental organizations
who collaboratively plan and oversee forest research projects.
