Wednesday, December 9, 2015 Time: 4:00 - 6:00 pm World Forestry Center, Miller Hall 4033 SW Canyon Rd., Portland, OR 97221 Tickets: $5 Student; $10 General Register Here The World Forestry Center, The Nature Conservancy, and the Pinchot Institute will hold a public lecture reporting on the UN Climate Change Conference being held in Paris, France. Dr. Steven Running was a chapter Lead Author for the 4th Assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. He received his M.S. in Forest Management at OSU and his Ph.D. in Forest Ecophysiology at CSU (Colorado). He is now a Regents Professor of Forest Ecology at the University of Montana, where he has been since 1979. Dr. Running will be "on the ground" at the World Forestry Center while the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will be taking place in Paris. He will talk about the latest climate negotiations, and the specific role global forests have in the Earth climate system. Gifford Pinchot Documentary Screening at Grey Towers
You're invited to a free screening of the WVIA documentary Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot on Saturday, June 15 at dusk at Grey Towers National Historic Site. The film highlights Pinchot's philosophy of natural resource conservation through sustainable use and how that legacy is continued today by the Pinchot Institute and Grey Towers.
The screening is part of the Grey Towers Heritage Association Screen on the Green environmental film series and will be shown rain or shine in the outdoor amphitheater or tented terrace area (bring a picnic dinner, blankets, and/or lawn chairs). Driving tour of Common Waters Locations
Saturday, June 15, 9 am - 1 pm, FREE Join us on a driving tour of privately owned forested properties located within the Upper Delaware River Basin and learn how participation in the Common Waters Fund helps landowners conserve and manage their forests. Learn how healthy forests in this region provide clean drinking water for more than 15 million people downstream and how the health and existence of these forests are threatened by the pressures of development.
