Collaborative Stewardship Training Opportunities

Pinchot Institute for Conservation (2001)

What skills help agencies and communities turn shared conservation goals into effective action? Prepared for the USDA Forest Service, this report assesses collaborative stewardship training needs and reviews available programs. It organizes collaboration into three phases—communication, arriving at a solution, and implementation—and identifies the skills needed at each stage. Topics include leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, trust, and partnership development. Suggested workshop designs and recommendations offer a historical perspective on strengthening both individual skills and organizational support for collaboration in natural resource management.
