Natural Resource Strategic Planning

 How can natural resource organizations plan effectively amid changing public expectations, competing demands, and uncertainty? Drawing on the Pinchot Institute’s 1995 William E. Shands Symposium at Grey Towers, this report examines the foundations of effective strategic planning: a clear mission, sound resource assessments, public participation, and coordination across organizations. It emphasizes planning as an ongoing process of learning and adaptation, providing a framework for local decisions that advance long-term conservation goals.
